Grade 3ZK

The science of today is the technology of tomorrow…..

As part of the English task, my learners prepared and presented a science experiment. They have proved to be “budding scientists.” They were involved in simple science experiments and were introduced to basic science concepts. It was fun and educational at the same time. We had erupting volcanoes, magic milk, making of slime and lava lamps to name a few. The learners were confident in their demonstrations and oral presentations.

Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters.

Knowing how to tell time is a very important skill. Allah Ta’ala speaks about the importance of time in Surah Asr. Learners, especially visual learners like to see and observe the things that they are learning about. For this lesson, each learner was given a clock to work with to make understanding of telling time easier.

This was a really good, interactive lesson as it contained key vocab and structures. The gestures in the song “What Time is it?” were easy and fun. Using the clocks, my learners showed me the time they usually did things eg. eating breakfast, going to bed etc. The lesson was consolidated by the learners practically drawing clocks in their workbooks and demonstrating their understanding of the concept by filling in the correct times.

“Reading is a Passport to Countless Adventures”

As we’re all operating in the shadow of a global pandemic, as teachers we need to provide a rich learning experience to all our learners in a safe environment. I decided to take my guided reading lesson outside under the canopy of the blue sky.

During guided reading, my learners read a text that had been selected at their instructional reading level. They were actively engaged in the group reading process by listening or reading and making their own conclusions about the text.

I guided my learners as they read, talked and thought their way through the text, enjoying the fresh air and the beautiful nature.
